This is amazing work that you do; it’s an area of great need – there needs to be more support to assist these individuals and their families. I worked with a boy with autism last summer (within a camp) it was challenging, yet so rewarding I see so much potential in these individuals to succeed socially, academically, physically, behaviourally and emotionally given the right environment and nurturing. All the best with you work.

My name is Nadia Hamilton. I have an honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in Political Science and History. An aspect that has had a huge impact on my life choices has been living and growing with a sibling who has autism. My younger brother has inspired me for 21 years to advocate the needs of some of the most vulnerable members of society.
I have worked for years as an Applied Behaviour Analyst within the autistic community, and my brother and I recently completed a charity marathon raising funds for the Geneva Centre for Autism. I have a proven record of professional and effective leadership, and the passion needed to develop this idea into a reality.
I am currently an intern with the Ontario Cooperators Association in the field of Cooperative Housing. Through this position I am learning the ins and outs of managing a corporation comprised of people from all walks of life.
Business Description:
My dream business is dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals with autism. Autism affects 1/110 children and the numbers are growing, yet there exists only a handful of organizations that address the needs of adults with autism. Unemployment and underemployment remain challenges for people with autism. Less than 38% of individuals with autism are employed.
It’s time to shake things up! Clean Planet will offer training specific to the needs of its workers, and a flexibility that is simply not found in other careers. The fact that the cleaning business is an ESSENTIAL service means that Clean Planet can offer a competitive salary. In addition, we will carve out a niche in society by using Green Cleaning products, and by donating a portion of our profits to programs within the autistic community. This will guarantee an increase of services available for adults with autism and facilitate social inclusion.
Because of the nature of this work, Clean Planet will be able to operate within commercial and residential markets with the capacity to even obtain partnerships with the federal government. Workers will have a physical sense of accomplishment, as they learn and develop lifelong skills.
There’s no better time to support our friends, neighbors, family, and benefit as a whole. Let’s come together and make a difference!
