@Jordan, your idea is great! Just saw a feature article of Etsy - truly a leader in that market!! It would be great to work with companies like ebay etc. to feature products that are made by entrepreneurs from developing countries. A great place to check out is Planeterra.org. They support global projects and initiatives and your platform can be an example of showcasing products and items that would not get the exposure and reach you could provide. Integrated into your site, you can also consider doing a video profiling the local artist/ business supplier and why they are CommunL approved. An online "green" market is also hot! As a fellow Ryehigh grad, LOVE SALAD KING!!! LOL! Good luck and hope to see you in top 10, SociaLIGHTS

We’re from the innovative marketing and online philanthropy industries. We love big ideas, simple solutions and helping the little guy. Our idea is more mature than we’ve outlined here. So say hi and we’ll chat over some Pad Thai at Salad King. After all, we’re here to make our idea happen and to learn from others.
Business Description:
COMMUNL is an online marketplace and community of smart consumers and ethically responsible small manufactures. Despite the rapid rise of B-Corps, Ethiscore and other sustainable business assessments, there is no widely used website - like Etsy for handmade goods - that brings all genres of socially and environmentally sound products to a wide audience.
It’s free and simple for consumers and manufactures to sign up. Buyers browse goods by category. Sellers list their products at no cost. Both join a community that’s keen about innovative consumership. In turn, COMMUNL is funded by taking a small affiliate fee from each sale. It’s simple. COMMUNL brings good people and good products together.
